Technical Excellence

Our facilities

Gunnedah Timbers processing facilities are among the most advanced in NSW with strong daily processing capacity. Processing facilities include laser guided twin edge saws and planer, Frame and Truss Manufacturing Division and Kiln Drying facilities. The onsite kilns provide select grade dried (to Australian Standards) timber to be processed into tongue and groove flooring, with both traditional and the newer end matched profile available. The Planing plant also process weatherboard for external cladding, decking, posts, lining board, internal and external skirting board and architraves, and pickets. Framing timber can be rougher headed and all timber can be sized or planed to order.

We can help with quality Cypress Frames and Trusses from your plans. Delivery of house lots can be arranged almost anywhere. Cypress Frames and Trusses represent a long term cost saving to the home builder as there is no need for re-treatment of the timber, with chemical sprays to maintain protection against white ants.

Ratings

Australian Cypress is rated durability class 1 for above-ground exposed applications and durability class 2 for in-ground use in AS 5604 (Timber Natural Durability Ratings).

Certification

Gunnedah Timbers Pty Ltd currently hold the following certifications:

  • AS 407:2006 certification

The Chain of Custody for Certified Wood and Forest Products Standard (CoC Standard) is a nationally endorsed standard of criteria and requirements that tracks a wood or forest product from its origin in a certified forest through to its end use as a wood or forest product by the consumer. It has been developed with reference to recognised international frameworks for wood and forest product tracking in a supply chain but takes account of local and regional operating conditions.

Total Utilisation By-product Management

There is no wastage at our sawmills and timber finishing operations as all by-products of the sawmilling process – namely bark and wood chip remnants – are utilised in the landscaping and gardening industry and all by-products of the finishing processes – the sawdust and shavings from our finishing machinery – are used for animal husbandry.
